Highly fragrant with violet and antique rose florals, dark berry fruits and deeply resonant roasted spice notes of star anise, clove, cinnamon and coffee bean. The palate is beautifully rich and textured, tannins are silky with a fine mineral thread. Powerful and brooding, yet with poise and seamless balance, with a long persistent finish.

Akarua produced more than 700 individual barrels of Pinot Noir from the 2016 vintage. Of these, just over 1% were considered to be outstanding examples of our home block vineyard on Cairnmuir Road, reflecting everything we love about Bannockburn. Eight individual barrels were blended for their completeness, for their ability to highlight the finest elements of the Cairnmuir Road end of Bannockburn and for their layers of complexity and length.
