VINTAGE

Growing conditions: An exceptionally warm, dry spring and early summer gave us unusually high early season growth. Extraordinary January heat brought the whole growing season forward culminating in our harvest starting earlier than ever, on March 8th. Late summer brought us record high rainfall with relatively cool daytime temperatures. These cooler temperatures kept disease pressure in check and the fruit delivered to the winery by the vineyard crew was in excellent condition.

Rainfall: 426 ml Oct-April growing season

Cropping: Average 7.5 T/HA

 

 

VINIFICATION

Whole bunch pressed

Ferment Vessel: Stainless Steel tank

Yeast: Inoculated – various strains

Fermentation Temp: 13-15°

Lees: stirred weekly

TASTING NOTE

Pretty, layered nose of citrus blossom, especially mandarin and orange, with ginger spice. Juicy and textural on the palate with bright, dancing acidity.

Winemaker’s Notes:

“In 2018, our RUA pinot gris comes from our parcels on both sides of Bannockburn. The Cairnmuir Rd parcel brings ripeness and richness on the palate and the Felton Terraces parcel contributes energy and lively acidity. It's nice to see both vineyards speak their terroir through our RUA pinot gris this year.
