Akarua Pinot Rosé

Tasting Note

Our 25 Steps Rose is 100% from a single vineyard site in Pisa, a dramatic, terraced vineyard planted entirely to pinot noir. Highly undulating and exposed with a multitude of natural microclimates, the flavours from this vineyard are wonderfully complex and utterly unique in Central Otago.

Only 450 cases made.

Quince, jasmine and strawberry jubes, with a mineral note of wet river stones. Textural and voluminous on the palate with red cherries, roasted hazelnuts, and mandarin skin. Fine acidity and finish, laced with a delicate, smoky thread of vanilla bean. A gastronomic wine for the dinner table to match delightfully with Trout Almondine.

VINTAGE 2018

Growing conditions: An exceptionally warm, dry spring and early summer gave us unusually high early season growth. Extraordinary summer heat brought the whole growing season forward culminating in our earliest harvest on March 1st. In late summer we had record high rainfall with relatively cool daytime temperatures. These cooler temperatures kept disease pressure in check and the fruit delivered to the winery by the vineyard crew was in excellent condition.
