“Impressive Central Otago producer Akarua's cheapest wine is a succulent, accessible joy of a Pinot, its plump palate bursting with pure cherry, raspberry and strawberry juiciness but with wonderfully lithe and silky tannins and racy acidity. Uncomplicated drinking pleasure.”

Michael Coopers Buyers Guide 2016

4.5 stars
“For a third-tier label, this regional blend can be remarkably good. Matured for 10 months in French oak barriques, the 2014 vintage (««««½) is deeply coloured, mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with generous, plummy, spicy flavours, considerable complexity, and a well-rounded, lingering finish. Instantly appealing, it's a classic example of the drink-young charm of the region's reds and offers outstanding value.”
