Rua Pinot Gris

Tasting Note

VARIETY

100% Pinot Gris

REGION

Region: Central Otago

Sub-Region: Bannockburn

VINEYARD

Vineyard block(s):

Cairnmuir Vineyard - Cairnmuir White Felton Road Vineyard – Maia

Growing Notes

An unsettled growing season marked with cool periods, particularly over flowering, resulted in lower yields. This gave us fruit with good concentration and excellent flavour acid balance.

VINIFICATION

Handpicked and fermented in stainless steel, whole bunch pressed and inoculated with a variety of yeasts. Extended yeast lees contact to increase complexity and richness.

APPEARANCE

Bright and clear with a pale golden hue.

STYLE

Well-structured with good acid balance, finishes off-dry.

BOUQUET

Lifted aromas of white peach, pears and white florals

PALATE

Rich with layers of ripe pears, white peach and tropical fruits. A fine acidity leads to a lingering finish of ginger spice and orange blossom.
