Picking date: 2nd April 2016

Growing conditions: Early season was slow to start. Mid-season Jan and Feb were hot, dry and windy finishing with a cool Autumn.

Grower Degree Days:  965 GDD

Rain mls: 225 mm for Oct-April growing season.

 

VINIFICATION

Ferment Vessel: 10% Barrel, 90% Stainless steel tank

Yeast: Inoculated – various strains

Fermentation Temp: 11-13°, whole bunch pressed

Post fermentation lees contact: stirred once a week

APPEARANCE

Bright and clear with a pale golden hue.

STYLE

Well-structured with a richness and poise that typifies Akarua Pinot Gris.

BOUQUET

Lifted aromas of white peach, pear blossom and a hint of ginger.

PALATE

Ripe pears with notes of nectarine and orange peel. A pleasant creaminess to the texture enhances these rich flavours. A balanced, fine acidity leads to a long mineral infused finish.

3-5 years.
