Akarua Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Note

VARIETY

100% Sauvignon Blanc

REGION

Central Otago

Growing Notes

Growing season started slow in Spring, with January being our stand out month; helping us to get through a cold finishing Autumn.

Cropping

 Average 7.5 T/HA

VINIFICATION

The fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed. The early press portion (80%) was settled, racked, inoculated then cool fermented in stainless steel. The remaining juice was put to older French oak barrels and allowed to go through wild ferment. This gives a more complex ferment character in the wine.

 APPEARANCE

Bright and clear with a pale golden hue.

STYLE

Well-structured with good acid balance, finishes off-dry.

BOUQUET

Lifted aromas of pink grapefruit, passionfruit and white florals

PALATE

Rich with layers of white nectarine, lime and gooseberry. A fine mineral acidity leads to a lingering flinty finish.
