Very exciting to meet #somms from #Australia #Canada #China #HongKong #Singapore #Switzerland #Holland #UK and #USA during this year’s #COPNL ‘Trade Road Trip’ and show off beautiful #centralotago

At lunch with the #somms @akaruawineskitchenbyartisan drinking 2011 Akarua Pinot Noir, which was looking great!

Go team! Akarua’s incredibly fast human picking machine harvesting our Cliff’s Terrace block, right next to the winery.

Our unstoppable Akarua Pinot Noir 2016 has picked up another Gold, this time at the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards 2018!

First pick on our Cairnmuir Rd vineyard today, Chardonnay for our Sparkling wines. Big question today, will the rain hold off?? Fingers crossed.

A couple of sneak previews. Our organic Sav Blanc at Pisa ready to be picked this week, some Pinot Noir on our 25 Steps Vineyard heading to RUA and booked in for picking early next week. And finally, delivered today and filling the first 2 fermenters, our 2018 Rose!

Picking across 3 vineyards in Pisa yesterday, this on our organic block on our Pisa Development.

Not a bad first day, 20+ tons in the winery, we think that might just be another first. We usually have a wee hit of 6 or 7 tons! The winery staff of Andrew, Rosie, Claire and Jascha (photo slightly blurred to hide their identity ??!! ha ha) contemplate several press loads ahead of them.

Harvest 2018 off to a flying start!

After a welcome to Akarua vintage 2018 from Tim, the crew are briefed on Health and Safety and picking procedures and then we are into our hand harvest. 5 ton heading to the winery as I type, the next 6 or 7 weeks are going to fly!

Bin no. 1 of Vintage 2018, approx 1900 to go! Our extra-ordinary season continues with a February start and fresh snow on the Pisa's. Hard to believe we were having record breaking heat just weeks ago.

Looks like something is just about ready to kick off at our 25 Steps vineyard! Could it be the start of Vintage 2018 tomorrow??

Standing at the edge of our dramatic ‘25 steps’ vineyard this morning, capturing the exquisite snow topped Pisa Ranges in the background. Mark Naismith our Vineyard Manager described the Pinot Noir produced from this vineyard as a “terroir field blend”. With constantly changing aspect, elevation, exposure and soil profile from top to bottom, left to right- 25 steps gives us true natural diversity of fruit character every year.

The wild extreme beauty of Central Otago. Veraison well underway, netted against the threat of birds... counting down to harvest AND snow on the mountains. #somuchloveliness

Basking in 37 degree temperatures, our guests dined beside our vines at Friday's Central Otago Pinot Noir (COPNL) celebration. Just a stones throw away from some of the grapes destined to be harvested for our RUA Pinot Rose in the near future after a record breaking Summer.

View over #LakeWakatipu and #TheRemarkables @skylinequeenstown on Saturday night at the @pinotcentral Pinot Noir Celebration Gala Dinner. What a fabulous four days of events meeting some very special Pinot-loving people from near and far.

A journey into Central Otago Pinot Noir at last weeks grand tasting held during the @pinotcentral Pinot Celebration 2018. Here we showed a beautifully aged 2002 vintage and our current gold medal release.

Pop in to see our friends at The New Zealand Cellar in London to pick up the perfect treat this Valentines Day.

Thanks to all that stopped by for lunch beside the vines today during the Central Otago Pinot Celebration 2018....what a beautiful day!

Not a bad view from our vineyard teams 'office' this morning! Thanks to Derek for the photo.

Veraison is officially underway on some of our beautiful vines!

A great mention from Master of Wine Bob Campbell who recently stopped in at our restaurant and cellar door Akarua Wines & Kitchen by Artisan.

With Christmas just around the corner even little Charlie is getting into the spirit here at the winery!
